Covid-19 Update

Ramgharia Gurdwara Coventry is committed to the continued safety and compliance of our Sangat and premises.

As an organisation we provide a place of worship & education for our congregation & community. Whilst we continue to take steps to provide essential support and assistance during this challenging and difficult time, we are also committed to following UK Government guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

The safety of our congregation, our sevadars and our premises during these anxious times is of paramount importance.

Compliance with Legislation during the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic

Life in the UK has been utterly transformed in the weeks since restrictions were brought in to curb the spread of the virus.

Throughout this challenging time the requirements of Ramgharia Gurdwara, Coventry have also had to be adapted. Following the Prime Minister’s announcement in March 2020, we support that our Gurdwara must now close both for private worship and public services.

Our premises are therefore now closed for public worship, private prayer and all other meetings and activities except for vital community services such as funerals, until further notice.

We are aware this is a very difficult time and will prompt a number of further questions, these can be answered by the appointee below, details of whom are given. We will continue to update, so please do keep checking back. When major changes are made we will publish updated through the our website (http://www.ramgarhiagurdwara.com/covid-19-update).

Site Visits

The Government has been clear that all Sevadars should be encouraged to work from home unless it is impossible for them to do so. We have put this into practice and arrangements have been made for home working wherever possible.

For activities such as installation and maintenance work which require attendance on site, we have put in place measures to protect both our sevadars and our service providers, such as the provision of Personal Protective Equipment & Safe Social Distancing.

In this context it is very important to know whether there are any known cases of Covid-19 or whether anyone is self-isolating and what control measures are in place prior to anyone making any essential attendance.

We count on the cooperation of our congregation and sevadars and service providers in providing this information in a timely manner. In turn, we will take care to ensure that their activities do not put themselves or anyone else at unnecessary risk.

If you have any questions please contact our Health & Safety Executive:
R S Bancil on 07971141666.

Funeral Services

Funerals will take place at the Crematorium, with a small limited pre-arranged service following at Ramgharia Gurdwara. Only immediate family members can attend. A maximum of ten persons will be allowed to attend the temple. – That is, spouse or partner, parents and children, keeping their distance in the prescribed way. No gathering should be held following the funeral, and this should be scheduled for a later date.

We recognise how difficult this will be for many, and it how it will add to the pain of a loss. We encourage you to discuss with the Gurdwara Secretary the possibility of a memorial service at a date in the future where more people can be present.

We also provide a link to the Governments own website for further Covid-19 information. https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
